20 Encouraging Bible Verses to Lift Your Spirit

20 Encouraging Bible Verses to Lift Your Spirit

Encouraging Bible verses don’t ignore pain or pretend life is easy. They remind us that fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty are not the end of the story.

Take your time reading these verses. Even one verse can be enough for today.

1. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

You are not expected to be strong on your own — support is already promised.

2. Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Pain does not push God away; it draws Him near.

3. Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds.”

Peace grows when worry is released instead of repeated.

4. Romans 8:28 (NIV)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…”

Even what feels wasted can still be redeemed.

5. Psalm 46:1 (NIV)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Help is closer than it feels.

6. Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Rest is offered, not earned.

7. Lamentations 3:22–23 (NIV)

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning…”

Each day begins with fresh mercy, not accumulated failure.

8. Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

“...Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Courage means moving forward while knowing you’re not alone.

9. Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you...”

You were never meant to carry everything yourself.

10. John 16:33 (NIV)

...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Hard seasons are real — but they are not final.

11. Proverbs 3:5 (NIV)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Clarity often follows trust, not the other way around.

12. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

...My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness...”

Grace shows up when strength runs out.

13. Psalm 23:4 (NIV)

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…”

Dark valleys are still places of guidance.

14. Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

...Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Loneliness does not get the final word.

15. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…”

Waiting does not mean weakness.

16. Romans 15:13 (NIV)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him…”

Hope can exist even when answers don’t.

17. Psalm 30:5 (NIV)

...Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

Pain has a limit — it does not last forever.

How can we pray?

18. John 14:27 (NIV)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…”

God’s peace holds steady when circumstances change.

19. Psalm 121:2 (NIV)

“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Support comes from beyond your own capacity.

20. Revelation 21:4 (NIV)

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…”

Suffering is real — but it is not permanent.
